Michael G. Donovan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College in 1987.  As a three-year captain of the basketball team, Michael earned All-New England honors and holds the school’s career assist record. After graduation, Michael started his own business as a franchisee of a national CPA review company.  He established and operated CPA review courses in multiple cities across the country, preparing college accounting graduates to take and pass the national examination to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  Michael attended Boston College Law School while continuing to operate his business and, upon graduation in 1993, Michael sold the business to pay off his law school loans and focus on his legal career.  Michael’s background and experience as an entrepreneurial small business owner gives him a unique perspective that he has been able to draw upon and use effectively as a lawyer advising both individuals and businesses.

Michael practiced with several mid-sized and large law firms in the greater Boston area for over twenty-five years.  Michael grew up vacationing in Harwich and, over ten years ago, purchased a second home in Harwich.  When COVID led to remote work, Michael took the opportunity to move to Harwich full-time.  After working remotely for a short period, Michael decided to move his practice to Harwich and join with Bill to form Crowell & Donovan Law, LLC.

Michael is a member of the Barnstable County Bar Association and Massachusetts Bar Association.

Michael has been named repeatedly to the List of Massachusetts Super Lawyers®, part of Thomson Reuters.  Super Lawyers® describes its award as: “Super Lawyers recognizes the top attorneys nationwide, across a variety of practice areas and firm sizes, using a patented process of independent research and peer input. . . . The Super Lawyers patented selection process is peer influenced and research driven, selecting the top 5% of attorneys to the Super Lawyers lists each year.”

Michael resides in West Harwich with his wife Mary-Beth.  They have three sons who are recent college graduates.  Michael and his family enjoy all the Cape has to offer especially biking, golfing, kayaking, and the Cape Cod Baseball League.  Michael is actively involved in the Harwich area community, including as a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 7312.
